About

I’m the co-founder of Sierra, a conversational AI platform for businesses.

Before that, I was at Google for 18 years, where most recently I led Google Labs. I started and led Google’s AR/VR effort, Project Starline, Google Lens, and a number of other forward-looking bets for the company. Earlier, I led the product and design teams for Gmail, Google Docs, Google Drive, and Google Apps for Enterprise (now collectively called Workspace), and worked on Search and many of Google's advertising products.

I grew up in the Bay Area, and studied Computer Science at Princeton. I like taking photos and making things that blend technology and art. I read a lot of books, and am especially interested in the nature of consciousness, evolutionary biology, artificial intelligence, technology and human progress, physics and the nature of reality, the Fermi Paradox, philosophy, and history.

You can find me on Twitter and LinkedIn, or email me at (my first name) @ (Google’s email service).
